Solutions from the Land (SfL) is pleased to announce that our farmer led not-for-profit organization has successfully earned accreditation to the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of the UN Environment Program (UNEP). SfL is now actively participating in three UN platforms where the future of agriculture is being debated and shaped – the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the UNEP. Accreditation provides SfL with official observer status in the UNEP and the ability to contribute policy and program recommendations, as well as participate in regional and global meetings of the UN Environment Assembly. “We are honored to have been accepted into the UNEP and look forward to sharing SfL farmer leader insight, experiences and recommended pathways for enabling agricultural solutions to sustainable development goals with global environmental stakeholders” said SfL President Ernie Shea. Established in 1972 and headquartered in in Nairobi, Kenya, the UNEP sets the environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
