Biographical Info

Sean is the Executive Director of the Iowa Agriculture Water Alliance (IAWA), an organization that is dedicated to increasing the pace and scale of farmer-led efforts to improve water quality in Iowa. Sean has created over $150M in public-private partnership projects to implement the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy. Prior to leading IAWA, Sean launched the agriculture program at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) as the North America Agriculture Program Director and led TNC’s work on the Farm Bill. Sean also served as State Director of the Iowa Chapter of TNC, the Director of National Land Stewardship Campaigns at the National Wildlife Federation, and various senior positions at the U.S. Department of the Interior in his three-decade career in conservation. Sean has a master’s degree in Natural Resource Science from Virginia Tech, an Executive MBA from Iowa State and lives with his wife Rebecca and four children in Cumming, IA.
