Kris is a 5th generation farmer with more than 30 years of farming experience that he gained while working in partnership with his father until his passing. The Swartz family farm encompasses 2,000 acres in Wood County growing corn, soybeans, seed beans, and 3 varieties of wheat. He received his degree in Agricultural Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1983. In 1994, he was recognized as the ASA/DuPont Young Leader for Ohio. He has been a part of the Wood County Soil and Water Conservation District since 1995, and he is also the Past President of the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCD). He has also previously served as the Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the OFSWCD. He is an Alternate Member representing Ohio within the National Association of Conservation Districts. He also is a former member of the Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission. He is married to his wife Sue, and they are the proud parents of 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter, and 2 grandsons that are expected in mid-May.
