Ernie serves as project coordinator for the Native Pollinators in Agriculture Project. Ernie has 30 years of experience at the national, state and local level where he has worked in partnership with government agencies, agricultural and conservation organizations and business leaders helping landowners and managers conserve, protect and ensure the orderly development of the nation’s natural resources. From 1986-2004 he served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). As CEO of NACD, Ernie represented and facilitated the effective functioning of the association consisting of nearly 3,000 local units of government, 17,000 public officials and 7,000 employees with combined annual budgets exceeding $1billion.

Prior to working at the national level, Ernie held a number of senior leadership positions with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, including Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for Agricultural Development and Resource Conservation. Among other responsibilities, he served as the senior Department official responsible for Chesapeake Bay restoration work. He also provided leadership for soil and water conservation, land preservation, domestic and international marketing and other service oriented programs designed to strengthen the state’s agricultural industry.

Lindsay Grossman

As an assistant, Lindsay provides administrative support to the president as well as event coordination, bookkeeping, and maintenance of websites and databases for NRS and its clients. Previously, Lindsay worked as an Executive Administrator at Boston University’s Institute on Culture, Religion, and World Affairs, where she managed the finances including grant and fund management, event and conference coordination, including conferences and workshops locally and globally, and the everyday functions of the Institute, including research assistance, bookkeeping, and staff management. Former positions of note include center administrator for Boston University’s Center for Ecology and Conservation Biology, and staff assistant at Save the Harbor/Save the Bay in Boston, MA.

Lindsay holds a Master of Science Education from Boston University and a BA in Environmental Geography from Colgate University.

Edith Munro

Communications Consultant

Based in Iowa, Edith Munro writes on agricultural topics from native bees and renewable energy to infrastructure and foreign trade for U.S.and international farm publications. She also does photography and research, recently completing an oral history project for the National Corn Growers Association. Her experience includes work for a member of the U.S. House of Representative, the Corn Refiners Association, the U.S. Grains Council, and the Iowa Corn Growers Association.
